Eagle Colorado is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Eagle Colorado is a part of the Sawatch Range which stretches for 100 glorious miles from Marshall Pass to Eagle River, and has 15 of Colorado's 48, 14, 000 ft Peaks. William Edwards was the first man to lay out the town that would later be called Eagle. He was a stock raiser and rancher. The town originally was called McDonald, after Alex McDonald. The name was changed to Eagle on October 5, 1896 when it was sold for taxes, totaling $210.42. There still exists a quiet, small-town atmosphere along with the breathtaking wide-open expanses of rolling mountainsides. Tourism has become a key draw to the area for these reasons. Wildlife is abundant in the Eagle Valley, and it is very common to sight large deer and elk populations, whereas bighorn sheep, and eagles are less commonly spotted, and even more uncommon are the black bear and the mountain lion sightings.
