Bend, county seat of Deschutes County, covers 32 square miles and is the most populated city in Central Oregon with a population of 70,328. At an elevation of 3,628 feet, Bend enjoys the predominately dry climate of the Great Basin Desert. The weather can be characterized by sunny days, cool nights and low humidity. To the west, Bend is surrounded by U.S. Forest Service land and to the east is high desert vegetation. The city is noted for its scenic setting, mild climate, year-round recreation opportunities and growing economy.
