The Town of Marshall is situated in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina along the French Broad River approximately 22 miles northwest of Asheville on Highway 25/70 between Weaverville and Hot Springs.
The town is the seat of county government and is home for the county courthouse, the Depot, numerous businesses, shops and churches, as well as being rich in history, scenery, activities and culture. Marshall is only 10 miles from the college community of Mars Hill and I-26, certainly making it convenient to many travelers.
In the winter you can ski, snowboard or tube at the ski slopes. Walk down historic Main Street or go to the Depot for traditional music and dancing on Friday nights. You'll want to attend the annual Lunsford Music Festival, held the first weekend of October and named for Bascom Lamar Lunsford, the father of folk music who was born right here in Madison County.
