The Deschutes River starts high in the Cascade Mountains near Bend, Oregon. Deschutes River Rafting comes in many varieties. The Class III Big Eddy run is only 20 minutes from Bend.  This part of the Deschutes River is small and narrow with lots of lava rock forming fast and fun rapids. Only a few outfitters run Deschutes River whitewater rafting trips here.

The majority of Deschutes River rafting trips are on the lower deschutes near Maupin, Oregon.  Here the river is big, wide and fun.  You will find mostly class III rapids and your choice of 1/2 day to 4 day Deschutes River rafting trips. 

Rafting trips on the upper and lower Deschutes River run from May through September. There is usually plenty of water so there always seems to be good whitewater.
