 Pearisburg, Virginia is located at the approximate geographic center of Giles County, Virginia. It is located on a plateau above the New River at the intersection of US Route 460 and State Route 100. Pearisburg, which is the County Seat of Giles County, is located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Pearisburg offers it's residents and visitors much in the way of outdoor attractions. Angels Rest, the hill overlooking Pearisburg from the west, is a pleasant yet invigorating day hike. The New River offers area canoeists and kayakers an ideal area to relax on a sunny day. A visit to Whitt Riverbend Park on the River is recommended. The Appalachian Trail runs through the outskirts of Pearisburg and hikers often stop in town for a few days rest during the summer months.
