The Wind River begins in the foothills of Mt. Adams and flows down to the Columbia River through boulder gardens and steep ledge drops. This Class IV+ adventure is not for everyone, and rafters must be in excellent physical condition with some previous Class IV experience. This is one of the most challenging and demanding runs that is commercially raftable in the Pacific Northwest.
This run is truly an adventure of a lifetime and perfect for the adrenalin junkie in search of big drops, hits and waves with a backdrop of spectacular Washington canyon scenery. Rafters can expect to see bald eagles nesting in trees overhead or majestically circling in search of food. The clear waters of the river also support large spring Chinook and Steelhead Salmon.
Most rafting trips run in the spring and early summer, but some companies offer later season adventures when the river becomes lower and more technical.
