I had an amazing rafting trip on the upper gauley. Tons of big rapids and a great guide. There's a waterfall called Sweets Falls. Super cool. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to great thrills. The Upper Gauley is as good as it gets.

| I have rafting the Upper Gauley every year since 1992. If you don't swim or handle adrenalin well, don't go. The Upper Gauley is big and beautiful. The guides that I have gone with, both Class VI and Ace Raft have been great. This trip can be hairy if you really want technical lines, but the guides are very good at taking routes that the crew can handle. The big 5 rapids, Insignificant, Pillow Rock, Lost Paddle, Iron Ring and Sweets Falls are unbelievable. They are big, powerful, fast, loud and wet. There are the 5 Class V rapids, with over 70 names III's and IV's. It is a great day of rafting. If you have not rafted big whitewater, try the Lower Gauley first. If you get off the Lower thinking that was the most fun you have every had, go for the Upper. I'm only giving an outline, because with only 1000 characters for the reivew, you can't properly describe the Upper Gauley. The river is great, and the canyon is beautiful. |

I've been rafting on several rivers in the eastern US. The Upper Gauley Rafting Trip was great. Big water and beautiful scenery. Pillow Rapid was a blast. You should check it out for sure.
